Two Ingredient Snack Hack!

Today we are sharing a super fast & easy set of simple, organic snacks you can make either as a fun project with the kids, or for a party, potluck or even a bake sale. The beauty of these snacks is they are not cookies, cake or muffins, have no added sugar, and they are fast & simple to make—and fun to eat.

Father's day is this Sunday, June 15th, so this is a fun & easy project for kids to make to share with Dad, or even take on a picnic!

All you need is a roll of organic crescent dough and a banana for a sweeter (but no added sugar) snack bite, or you can also choose organic all-beef Kielbasa for a more savory bite. Just look at how adorable these little baked pastry bites look:

You can reliably purchase rolls of organic crescent dough at Trader Joe’s. Annie’s Organics also make organic pre-made doughs, but are not as easy to find reliably.

One “can” of crescent dough will need two medium bananas or two kielbasa franks to use all the dough. In these examples, we used one of each & made 16 individual snacks.

The process to make them is foolproof—just roll, slice and bake!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIMPLE SNACK BITES:

  1. Preheat oven to 375. Line baking sheet with parchment, or silicone baking liner.

  2. Open can of dough & carefully separate along center perforation so you have two sections:

Each roll half has 4 triangular crescent rolls.

  3. Unroll 1st half and carefully separate into two “rectangles” of dough. Peel first banana & slice in half. You can trim the ends of the banana halves as shown to fit perfectly.

  1. Roll the bananas tightly, but not stretching the dough. Gently press the ends down to seal shut. Slice into 4 equal slices:

  1. Place slices on baking sheet at least and inch apart. Repeat until all 4 rectangles are rolled & sliced. Follow the same process if you want to make savory kielbasa bites:

  1. Place all 16 bites on the baking sheet & bake for 12 to 14 minutes at 375:

There are many additional things you could do to fancy these up, but they do bake up great with just the two ingredients:

OPTIONAL IDEAS:

You can make these quickly & easily. The bananas get a little soft and they add a natural sweetness to the bit of dough. You can serve them with peanutbutter & jelly. If you want to make them shiny, brush some beaten egg over the top just before baking. If you want to go the dessert route, you can sprinkle them with a bit of powdered sugar.

For the kielbasa bites—ketchup and mustard are great dipping sauces. To fancy these up—sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before baking for a pretty & tasty upgrade. By the way, Costco carries the organic, all beef kielbasa we used in our demo photos. They also taste great!

You can also cook these in the airfryer at 375 for 8-10 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and lightly browned. Use your regular spray oil such as healthier spray avocado oil, or line air-fry basket with parchment paper.

We hope you love our quick two ingredient snack hack! Let us know if you try it at home.
