Do you have plans for Memorial Day weekend? We will not be making meals or delivering on Monday, May 29 as we assume a large quantity of you have plans--as do we! Chef Mary is out all week on vacation, and I, Chef Ginny, will be in Monterey at the Aquarium this weekend. I will be here next week with meals for all, however, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
I will point out that next week is officially JUNE. That means our not-yet-summer is less than a month away and one of my most favorite things in the WORLD is coming: summer fruit. So, off to the Farmer's market I go. I've been waiting for the apricots. It all starts with apricots, but I haven't gotten any good ones yet, so I'm just waiting and then we will have apricot-ginger pie.
Yesterday I saw some at the grocery store, and they weren't ready, so then neither am I. I am patient, if anything. We had tremendous rain and storms this winter, so the fruits are acting more "normal" and are not quite ready. But the sunny days are coming, and so will the bounty. Until then, there are plenty of yummy things to try.
